We've spoken of PIXX before, so we'll skip over the introductions and get right to business. That her latest single, 'Deplore' is a slice of melancholic gold.
On first listen of 'Deplore', there are elements very reminiscent of 'Fall In', where we stated "Her intimate lyrics are delivered with a voice so captivating, as it floats above the bed of shifting beats and crisp claps". The main difference this time around is that Hannah Rodgers seems to focussed on the lyrics and vocals - both acting a clear focal point.
As she smoothly and delicately whispers "there is more to you, than I deplore", you are dragged into the content behind the words - a moody tale of a tortured relationship of some kind. When these beautiful lyrics from Pixx are surrounded by whirling dark synths and a warped guitar line, it becomes a hypnotic piece of music.
Get sucked into the track below alongside a clip featuring Rodgers being dragged through perfectly matched eerie landscapes.
Pixx's Fall In EP is out now via 4AD.
