After countless collabs for their new record, Major Lazer have taken a step into the world of indie popsters VAMPIRE WEEKEND by working with the singer EZRA
I love it when great artists come together. Collaborations are always great because even though musicians are great on their own, when paired with someone who shares their excellence, well, you’re gonna have a good time.
MAJOR LAZER are one of the best electronic musician/DJ collectives going around – and has been for many years. After countless collaborations, they have taken a step into the world of indie popsters VAMPIRE WEEKEND by working with the lead singer EZRA KOENIG.
VAMPIRE WEEKEND, like MAJOR LAZER have been kings of their craft ever since they emerged from the indie scene of Brooklyn, onto the mainstream. I say thank god EZRA KOENIG decided to quit English teaching because otherwise we would have his high, intelligent vocals mixing it up with the fast-paced drums, and unique guitar riffs that VAMPIRE WEEKEND seem to produce constantly. The track that the boys have pulled together is called ‘Jessica’, and it may trip you out a tad.

MAJOR LAZER and EZRA have turned ‘Jessica’ into a chilled out track that opens with a pretty rad reggae beat, that’s slow and solid. EZRA can be heard so clearly when his vocals step in, although they’re slightly distorted, you still love it because it’s that voice that everyone has fallen in love with.
There are some spoken word parts that are pretty interesting being thrown into this mix, and MAJOR LAZER’s synth work is subtle, but still pretty present. All in all the track ‘Jessica’ is a dreamy, chilled track for the summer days that we’ve said goodbye too, but the northern hemisphere is welcoming in.
