Live Review: PREMIERE: Time is the killer in Lxandra's poignant new clip for "Flicker"

Berlin based artist LXANDRA is back to showcase her talents, not only musically, but she is testing her creative stamina as a producer and co-director for the new video accompaniment to her latest release, 'Flicker'.

Lxandra has shown in her talents, whether it be writing for someone else or herself that she has tremendous vision. Her vision has been trialled and tested in this new clip. At first it shows great production skill, frame-matching video bites to coincide with the beautiful melody she offers musically, but as the song progresses the art intensifies.

All of these seemingly independent storylines come crashing to an abrupt, unified conclusion. In all instances, the cause of death is passing time. As Lxandra preaches the danger of wasted time, all of the innocence in the narrative escapes it, and is replaced by fire and brimstone as the clip comes to a fiery peak.

To encapsulate words in such harmonious visual metaphor is a real treat to see unfold for the first time, and Lxandra obviously shares the beautiful artistically free mindset of those creators to come before her such as BJORK and AURORA.

Although she garners such healthy comparison to the European ladies we idolise, it's clear that she fits those moulds for her ingenuity, and refusal to give anything but her honest truth in her sentiments. That's what makes Lxandra such an exciting prospect; she has the talent, skill and most importantly the curiosity to try her hand at all forms of artistic expression. I can only see the meaning to her work and the subtle execution forming a stronger bond with her music over time. All I know is I can't wait to see what else Lxandra can conjure up for us in the future.
