Perth duo HAMJAM have a unique knack for dropping tracks that are equal parts mellow and melancholy, and their new video for 'Sippin' Rosé All Alone' is no different. With their release of their new album a/s/l? out now via REMOTE CONTROL / BEDROOM SUCK RECORDS, fans have been treated to a true summertime sadness, with melting synths cloaking melodramatic lyrics.
Stand out track 'Sippin Rosé All Alone' is lacquered in overlaps of psych and electronica, as Hamjam fall deeper into their feelings and their glass of rosé. Much like the wine in question, the song is sweet, addictive and you'll keep coming back for more until it's too late. Then, you'll be lying on your bedroom floor crying about what ails you, not quite remembering how you got there. Hamjam have offered a completely immersive experience and their video reflects that just the same.
Like a David Lynch short that never was, the video for 'Sippin' Rosé All Alone' is deceitfully rose-coloured, shot in VHS-style and warped beyond imagination. As the guy in the visual successfully drinks himself into oblivion and unsuccessfully tries his hand at courtship, we fall deeper into the song's grim message of futility.
This is a song that was made to be listened to while staring at your bedroom roof into nothingness, as each synth and each repetition of 'drinking again' drips into your bloodstream. The hangover will be painful, but it will be 100% worth it.
