With the fight for marriage equality gaining serious and promising momentum over the past few months (about time), one of Australia's most loved artists had to speak her mind. ELIZABETH ROSE released her latest single 'Division' earlier this month, openly singing in support of the issue, and helping those still on the other side understand a little more.
Letting the message take the centrestage, the track is simple in nature but packed with beautiful and emotive lyrics. Instead of lamenting about the issues, Rose provides a positive and optimistic take on the issue, instilling hope in those who have been fighting for their rights.
Further to this, she also released an accompanying video for 'Division'. The moving clip follows two lovers struggling to get the acceptance from their families they so desperately need. The strain from the adversity the couple faces becomes too much for one, but he soon finds acceptance in his partner. Poignant, moving and symbolic; this clip is one that will stick with you for a long time to come.
Having put her track up on her website for two weeks, fans could purchase it for whatever price they saw fit, with all proceeds going to the Australian Marriage Equality (AME) organisation.
Whilst we didn't need anymore convincing to love Elizabeth Rose, we can hazard a guess that she and the impact that she's made from this song have helped a lot of others love her too. Here's hoping her message is heard where it can really make a difference.
