Live Review: PREMIERE: Introducing BUFFY and her sci-fi inspired new clip for 'Cruel'

Eva Pattison has already carved out a path as a working actor, musician and music industry creative, but she has recently unveiled a new solo project and musical direction under the name BUFFY. We're not sure she'll be slaying vampires any time soon, but that's okay because what she IS doing is delivering dark electro-pop that grabs you instantly and pulls you in. Her latest single, 'Cruel', is a perfect example of this, and we are thrilled to be premiering its accompanying visual counterpart today.

Tapping Rory Grounds (Carla Wehbe, BOI, Pink Zinc) for producer duties, Peter Holz (Peking Duk, Alice Ivy) for mixing and Leon Zervos (Robyn, Rihanna) for mastering, together they have emerged with a dark, alluring sound that hints at the likes of Massive Attack or The Weeknd, while still maintaining BUFFY's own voice and sonic stamp.

BUFFY said, “I wrote Cruel to give voice to the idea that what’s not good for you can still be deliciously, magnetically attractive, in a so wrong it must be right kinda way. I’m so excited to have it out of my weird brain and into the cosmos!”

Having drawn inspiration and influence from all artistic spheres, including painters, fashion designers, authors and poets, BUFFY's world she's created around her music is as interesting as it is intoxicating in 'Cruel'. The visuals see her as an animated protagonist, and will strike a chord in those who enjoy sci-fi, adventure and Blade Runner. It perfectly suits the rush of 'Cruel', the nocturnal edge of the song and the mystery of the story as it slowly unfurls, and shows there is a lot more to BUFFY than just another electro-pop artist.
