Live Review: Billy Fox pays homage to the 70's with his trippy, vintage style visuals for 'Shapes'

If you're a BILLY FOX fan, then strap yourself in because his latest silky synth based track, 'Shapes', just scored a psychedelic inspired music video. If you're not, prepare to have that changed.

Since the release of 'Shapes', all of us here at Purple Sneakers have been hooked, the track showcasing this Sydney producer's knack for outstanding structured production that he uses to showcase his signature shifting soundscapes. 'Shapes' is a cool, calm and collected track but something you will happily use to put a little pep back in your step. Fox has created something super unique, using percussive influences against his ultra dreamy vocals to create a multi-dimensional track, one that mixes modern electronic with undertones of synth-pop.

To accompany the layered textures found within 'Shapes', Fox has released a video to accentuate the wondrously playful elements within the track. Retro vibes flood through the air, with old school static TV edits, vinyls, fluorescent lights, all wrapped up with psychedelic glitches to add a little intrigue. It's a colourful and emotive clip, featuring the man himself as he performs through a vintage/ modern hybrid aesthetic and holds nothing back as it switches to him comfortably and confidently belt out some bass guitar.

We've probably reached about six plays of this video and each time something new is discovered, whether it be a new colour, prop or trippy effect, the video truly embodies a visual wonderland - which is perfect considering his music has the same effect! Whether it be visual or audio, he brings something new to the table each time, finding new creative treasures throughout his work, its kind of like the excitement of finding coins under the couch; the smallest of treasures can make your day, especially when unexpected.

Billy Fox sure does have a bright future ahead of him with this track up his sleeve. In celebration of 'Shapes' and this 1970's homage of a clip, Fox has announced an East Coast tour! So now you can cut shapes while listening to 'Shapes'! Check the dates below:
