ALLIE X has landed on the scene in what appears to be a burst of overnight success. Since releasing a series of tracks online - 'Prime', 'Bitch' and 'Catch' - all released with some very cool accompanying videos, she's blown up.
Publications such Billboard and TIME Magazine have gone wild for the unknown Canadian songstress, who's person is clouded with a certain allure and mystery. No one is quite sure who this fantastic talent is, and how such a newcomer could come out with such polished, catchy songs straight off the bat.
What is known about the singer is that she's gearing up to release her debut EP 'CollXtion I' in April, and for that (I Assume) 'Catch' has been repacked with a new, and very artistically and aesthetically eclectic video clip.
The video utilises the same gif-like, disjointed video technique of her earlier videos; with every movement appearing like a bunch of photos that have been stuck together and sped up to a frenzied, overwhelming pace.
There is a series of strange symbolism contained with the clip, which attempts to convey the feelings of suffocation and paralysis that happens after a breakup. This is brilliantly conveyed with a series of disturbing images of Allie X being crushed by a series of naked figures.
It's strange, often creepy video clip, yet delivered with a sugary sense of aesthetics that makes even the most distressing images seem like fantastical of children's book.
Its the perfect paring to the track - that whilst a CHVRCHES-esque pop anthem - underneath its sweet surface explores the stifling effects of relationship breakdowns and her partner's determination to silence her.
