Vesania prove death metal and melody don’t have to be mutually exclusive.
Sure, the vocals sound like the Cookie Monster swallowed a microphone. And you might want to take a restraining order against the relentless assault of guitars once you recover. There’s a lush beauty of orchestration beneath almost all of this album that gives it real dimension. Vesania are dark, loud and aggressive, but that doesn’t mean they can’t be traditionally musical. A death metal band whose, “lyrics paint a drab picture, particularly when paired with equally bleak music,” being from Poland seems about right.
