Now 50 years young, Cash’s Bitter Tears was an album of passionate storytelling, a protest document against the mistreatment of Native Americans, with whom Cash (mistakenly) believed he shared blood.
Look Again To The Wind blows in less as a tribute album, more a peace pipe around a campfire. Gillian Welch and Emmylou Harris add a delicate, rare femininity to songs you might expect to be sung with more gravel, while The Milk Carton Kids keep things true to the album’s folky roots.
