Album Review: Various Artists - Only Lovers Left Alive Original Soundtrack

Jarmusch’s latest is apparently a vampire film, and the sounds here are suitably sparse and evocative yet still possess a New York experimental swagger.

Aside from writing, directing and occasionally appearing in films, Jim Jarmusch is also an accomplished guitarist. Over the last few years he's collaborated on two albums with lutist Jozef Van Wissem (who appears here) and his rock band Squrl. A trio from New York, here they delight in droning sheets of guitar feedback draped over lumbering slow metronomic beats. Jarmusch's latest is apparently a vampire film, and the sounds here are suitably sparse and evocative yet still possess a New York experimental swagger.
