Album Review: Vacationer - Relief

Kenny Vasoli originally joined electronic-pop outfit Vacationer anonymously – the lead singer of pop-punk outfit The Starting Line didn't want his fans to form any preconceived notions about his new band. He needn't have worried. With the likes of Body Language's Matthew Young and Grant Wheeler on board, there's no comparing Vacationer's upbeat, African drum-laden sound with the emo pangs of Vasoli's other outfit. Indeed, Relief is actually positive to a fault. Paradise Waiting would be a nice, pool-side summer listen. The remaining 38 minutes feel too much like a bombardment of Care Bears and rainbows to be overly enjoyable.
