Tripod: Men of Substance

They have plenty of new songs and gags about tax, MILFs and how their 20s weren’t actually that golden.

Tripod are back with their new show “Men of Substance”. The show, playing at the Spiegeltent (first rule of the Spiegeltent: arrive early so you don't get a booth), features songs from their new album of the same name. It's clear by their first song “Adult Contemporary” that the guys, who have been playing together for 16 years now, are keeping up with their fan base. They have plenty of new songs and gags about tax, MILFs and how their 20s weren't actually that golden. One drawback, however, was the constant muttered commentary of exactly what was happening on stage by a few old dears in crowd. It was akin to watching the carols every Christmas with crazy Aunt Murial at times. Nevertheless, the band is tight, the harmonies beautiful and their poignant ode to Melbourne, “The Blueprint”, is a sure crowd pleaser. A definite must see, but with your parents.
