Tom Ballard: UnAustralian(ish)

"While not the most terrible thing at MICF 2014, it doesn’t offer anything to write home about."

More Tom Ballard More Tom Ballard

UnAustralian(ish) sees Ballard recount his childhood trip around Australia in an attempt to create a platform to discuss the national identity. While some moments are funny, Ballard's analysis of the what-does-being-Australian-actually-mean question is shallow. Furthermore, Ballard has the tendency to extract laughs whenever jokes fall flat by employing various “ooo tough crowd” punchlines. The fact that occurs about every fifth joke tends to reinforce the observation the show is a bit flat. While not the most terrible thing at MICF 2014, it doesn't offer anything to write home about.
