To try and cram Toehider into the prog-rock category would require a shoehorn and probably result in a hernia from the strain, such is the range of styles this band blends. From sweeping epics that cover ample musical ground (fist-pumping Whatever Makes You Feel Superior) to displays of revved up neo-classical virtuosity (The Thing With Me), this release presents a smorgasbord of sound that impresses on many fronts. With What Kind Of Creature Am I? Toehider have created an album that abounds in more than just vocal hooks and guitar chops, making it a vehicle definitely worthy of their face-melting live show.
