"The Viper Creek Band do the country rock thing, polished, but with just a bit of red dust scuffed in."

More The Viper Creek Band More The Viper Creek Band

Sipping our lattes clutching on to the coastal fringes, you can forget there's musics other than angsty inner-city boys strangling guitars, or the flanno-clad 'rawwwk' of the suburbs.

The Viper Creek Band do the country rock thing, polished, but with just a bit of red dust scuffed in. And while it has to owe some to its American forebears, that's certainly more a Newcastle twang in Damien Baguley's vocals, and talk of 'utes' rather than 'pickups'. Just Press Play goes from the good times of Feeling Right Now and the huge guitar hook of Nothin' To It, to the more reflective Firework without falling into the big hat cliches.
