Album Review: The Valery Trails - Buffalo Speedway

While we may have had plenty of bands that sounded like The Valery Trails at one time, they offer something that’s sorely needed in 2014. File under ‘toned-down Blueline Medic’.

'Solid' is a word that could be misconstrued as a bit of a backhanded compliment, but its solid foundation is what makes The Valery Trails so listenable. The first thing to stand out on Buffalo Speedway is the pristine, no-frills songwriting. This is some precise, hook-laden stuff, never feeling the need to dazzle with superficial layers of excess. Buffalo Speedway is nothing new, but that's okay. While we may have had plenty of bands that sounded like The Valery Trails at one time, they offer something that's sorely needed in 2014. File under 'toned-down Blueline Medic'.
