"The style is hit and miss and relies heavily on the participants, but Vine pulls it off with flare and self-deprecating charm."
Once the holder of the Guinness World Record for most jokes told in an hour (499 were managed), Tim Vine's style can be summed up as Christmas cracker comedy; short, sharp and predictably corny. Before the show begins, daring audience members are encouraged to fill out a sheet of paper asking for their occupation and a description of a strange incident that has happened to them. Over the course of the hour, we are introduced to a maths teacher, a medical student, an ambulance attendant, an office worker and a tennis umpire, as Vine brings them up on stage to be interviewed for his mock 'chat show'. The style is hit and miss and relies heavily on the participants, but Vine pulls it off with flare and self-deprecating charm.
