Album Review: The Pretty Littles - Gospel

StarStarStar

"Constantly riding the borderline been maturity and childishness, Gospel is a sloppy mess in all the right ways."

More The Pretty Littles The Pretty Littles

Melbourne’s The Pretty Littles’ latest release is a dog’s breakfast of garage rock. Often sounding overwrought with ideas or emotions, the songs don’t often coalesce into coherence.

Tracks about football, 17th century marriages and organised religion are delivered with all the rage and vigour one could ask for. In the moments when they do come together, The Pretty Littles sound brilliant. Tegan Victoria is a righteous love song, while Man Baby is brimming with slacker charm. Constantly riding the borderline been maturity and childishness, Gospel is a sloppy mess in all the right ways.
