But it works.

More The Pigs More The Pigs

Staples of the Tamworth Festival scene, The Pigs’ unapologetic Aussie bumpkin shtick delivers big laughs on this well-curated collection of their favourite Aussie anthems.

While there’s a Wiggles-y tongue-in-cheekiness to the bluegrass reinventions, there are several ambitious yet smart choices that raise Home Brew above disposable novelty fare. You Am I, Powderfinger and INXS songs convert well to the countrification, while merging The Avalanches’ two biggest moments into one rip-snorting line-dancin’ hit, or turning Silverchair’s astral Straight Lines into a harmonica-led lonely walk home is brazen to the point of lunacy. But it works.
