Album Review: The Occupants - Hindsight

11 December 2014 | 4:03 pm | Carley Hall

"'Hindsight' is a multifaceted triumph."

When The Occupants’ first single, I’ve Been Thinking, dropped in 2013, the wait began for more from the familiar sounds of Flynn and Luke Gower of defunct Sydney favourites Cog.

More than a year later, what the Gower boys have given us, alongside Sleep Parade’s Leigh Davies, is an EP, the wait and its succinctness worth it. Flynn’s vocal is searing throughout but the build in the brooding title track is sublime. The mood lifts for Streets and Wonderland, and that Peter Gabriel vibe carries the same punch on that first single. Hindsight is a multifaceted triumph.
