Perth five-piece The Light The Dark have dropped their debut LP, an interesting mixture of hardcore elements.
Utilising slow and steady guitar hammers, power metal melodies, punk rock riffs and clean vocals along with the occasional groove shuffles, the record both blends well and clashes incoherently, occasionally in the same track. Starting strong in a powerful, crunching opener, Miserable Old Sea, the flexed hardcore muscle slowly fades as the tracks roll on until the slightly obscure misses of Fire Water Ice. Some strong tracks, just not enough to fill out this record.
