Indie-pop that’s neither artsy nor overly commercial, Vessel lies somewhere in between.
TKST tick all boxes for vaunted contemporary releases: withheld rhythms, hip hop beats and bold builds polished off by electronic production and Danny Harley’s sweet, vulnerable vocals. Though heartfelt and accessible, single/opener Arcadia doesn’t convey the EP’s strength, which is perfected in the cinematic Words and infectious Given The Chance. Featuring Tiana Khasi’s sultry vox on Stone Cold is a stroke of R&B-infused genius (the overused jungle chimes hardly feel trite). Indie-pop that’s neither artsy nor overly commercial, Vessel lies somewhere in between. He plays Karova Lounge, 5 Sep; Corner Hotel, 6 & 7 Sep.
