Album Review: The JAC - Love Dumb

18 March 2014 | 2:16 pm | Bailey Lions

While the songs are strong, they play out like pre-packaged templates rather than original works.

The JAC have taken their sound international with their new EP Love Dumb, a solid assortment of rock'n'roll tracks that brings in influences from old school Britpop and classic American rock. Love Dumb encapsulates a heritage sound with a flair of lo-fi sampling and glassy guitar tones. Along with the standard rock instrumentation, The JAC brings in organs and strings to help flesh out the sonic atmosphere of the record – and that's ultimately the weak spot in Love Dumb, it lacks character and personality. While the songs are strong, they play out like pre-packaged templates rather than original works.
