3.5 stars

The latest release for Dayton, Ohio's best known God-bothering head bangers, 8:18 continues The Devil Wears Prada's love affair with melodic metalcore. All the usual hallmarks of the style are here: double kicks, vocals alternating between voice-shredding screams and soaring melodies, as well as typically compressed guitars and bass. There's even the odd elbow dipped into technical death metal waters with the opening strains of First Sight and Martyrs, which keeps things interesting. With plenty of chugging breakdowns and heart-palpitating beats to keep the faithful happy, this album sees TDWP at the top of their game.
