From the simple yet oh-so-catchy guitar hook in You Are Killing Me to the surprisingly funky beat of Styggo, experimental sounds and rhythms are pulled into sharp focus. The distorted guitar and reverbed vocals of opener Search Party is followed by the heavier, electronic Semper Fidelis, and it's this kind of contrast that lends the album depth and colour. Courtney Taylor-Taylor's distinctive vocals bring the disparate elements together, making Distortland a true return to form.
