Album Review: The Bug - Angels And Devils

22 August 2014 | 11:21 am | Guido Farnell

The Bug continues to represent the best in UK bass.

The Bug’s Kevin Martin finally follows up on 2008’s instantly classic London Zoo.

The first half of this album features atmospheric dub angels while the flip side offers streetwise Grime devils grinding nastier vibes. Grouper’s spectral vocals haunt the dreamy Void. Gonjasufi, lost in the crackle of old vinyl, exerts his hypnotic powers on Save Me, setting listeners adrift on strange hallucinations. Death Grips drops it rough and raw, while the tough attitude of the fast and furious Warrior Queen is fierce. The Bug continues to represent the best in UK bass.
