"The King is back."
It’s fitting that T.I.’s second best release opens with a track recalling his best.
2006’s King, like the 2014 album opener that bears its name, is a line drawn in the sand. T.I.’s presence, his menace, his spitting cobra delivery – all combine to make him one of the most engaging commercial rappers out. G Shit swings and sways delightfully. Jet Fuel is aptly named. Let Our Heart Go, powered by The-Dream, is a surprisingly neat piece of introspection. It’s been nearly a decade since Tip sounded this good. As he said at that time: The King is back.
