Swedish chanteuse Sumie Nagano gives us a dreamy, out-of-focus collection of folksy pop songs on her self-titled debut. Unlike little sister Yukimi, who fronts the synth wizardry of Little Dragon, Sumie doesn't seek to blind us with gimmicks. Plucking at the strings of her guitar and singing softly leaves Sumie absolutely nowhere to hide. Amazingly, her delivery of these plaintive reflections on life and love is breathtakingly flawless. Sumie's breathy vocals, at once seductive and hypnotic, drift out of the stereo like a cool breeze on a hot summer's day, songs bewitching in their simplicity.
