Experimenting with light and colour, Sydney based producer SPACIE has dropped a killer of a single. Refusing to be caught up in the more brooding tones of her genre, SPACIE focuses on experimentation to emanate some much needed good vibes.
Definitely more sweet than it is sour, ‘Salty’ explores the untapped potential of the House and Electronic genre. From the very beginning, the song will awaken your inner dancer. Unapologetically poppy, in the most literal sense possible, it is one feel good dance number.
From start to finish, the song never settles. As each section comes to it’s end, another instrument or quirky melody is subtly layered in before becoming the key new feature.
As carefree and vivacious as the track sounds, it is not without cautious mastering and well-curated production. For the silliness of every jingle, there is the warmth of brass or the crunch of percussion to even out the tune.
‘Salty’ encompasses a broad array of samples and unconventional instruments to launch you into an arcade game-like world. Xylophones, chimes, popping bubbles and children’s laughter all feature in the piece. Whilst Spacie ensures that brass instruments are employed to sophisticate the childlike joviality of the tune.
