Album Review: SPAAM - Invasion

Sluggish beats detract from SPAAM’s chilled, wandering dance vibes

Invasion could potentially inform a fine, late-night rave set. But in the cold light of day, this Parisian DJ and producer’s six tracks are too forgettable and uninspired to makes their mark on this increasingly flooded scene. For instance, with isolated, crunching bass providing the only hint of energy, The Wolf Pack is dominated by thinness and dead space. Each of these acid-house offerings become samey, quickly. Husky, ominous production and subdued-but-spooky samples do provide some colour and shadowy ambience. But even these grow stale and robotic, while sluggish beats detract from SPAAM’s chilled, wandering dance vibes.
