"Berdreyminn may be their definitive work."
2014's Otta was ambitious, but Berdreyminn stretches Solstafir's blackened post-metal vision even further.
With epic compositions infused with that wind-swept, Icelandic sense of forever, the standout tracks outnumber the rest. But of particular note, the exhilarating Blafjall rides a church organ and a Pink Floyd bass line over landscape that's in turn rugged, tortured and beautiful, whilst Dyrafjorour has a touch of Hans Zimmer's Inception theme to it. Setbacks and conflict only seem to have made Solstafir all the more determined. After a long, hard struggle, Berdreyminn may be their definitive work.
