Simon Godfrey’s Sauce is a one-man show in which Max, of St Optimus Primary School, expresses a dislike for tomato sauce and then must escape an international cabal of pro-sauce forces.
Godfrey is a confident and highly physical performer managing to skilfully change between the large cast of characters: from Vladimir Putin to the local tuckshop staff, J Robert Oppenheimer to the president of the local trebuchet society. Even though the premise of the show is probably stretching an idea beyond its limit, and the jokes don’t always pay off, Godfrey remains a charming performer throughout.
