Album Review: She & Him - Christmas Party

The merry, dulcet tones of Zooey Deschanel and M. Ward, aka She & Him, ring out once again this festive season with the pair's second Christmas album, Christmas Party.

There are classics old and new - Let It Snow, All I Want For Christmas Is You, Run Run Rudolph - as well as offbeat gems like Darlene Love and Phil Spector's Marshmallow World and folk singer Vashti Bunyan's The Coldest Night Of The Year. Despite her many charms, Deschanel on her lonesome doesn't always hit the mark; it's when the duo are just that, a duo, for ditties like Must Be Santa that those cheery, old school sentiments soar.
