"It’s safe to say Seth Sentry once again blew Aussie fans away with his rhymes."
Up first for the night was Canberra’s Citizen Kay. The crowd responded well to his animated and energetic presence, which set up spirited vibes for the rest of the night. Kay’s popular track, Freedom, had the audience at its peak.
By this stage of the night The Gov had begun to fill up, which is surprising since this was Seth’s second show in a row. The audience was mainly a crowd of twenrty-to-thirtysomethings that shared a love and passion for Aussie hip hop. You could tell this since every hip hop song played between sets had the majority of the crowd singing and bopping along familiarly.
Next up were very special guests The Funkoars, an Adelaide hip hop band and after listening to them live it was obvious why they were selected to perform at Seth Sentry’s show. Their performance style was similar to the way Seth and Citizen Kay involve themselves with the crowd. They were animated and enthusiastic, both qualities with which the crowd reciprocated. The Funkoars had the audience waving their arms up in unison to their tracks. Another great addition to the night.
As expected, the crowd went wild when Seth Sentry made his way onto the main stage, the audience compacting well into one tight-knit mass. He began the set well, immediately establishing a relationship with the crowd, making eye contact and lightly bantering with members of the audience.
Float Away and The Waitress Song were probably the two tracks that had the crowd the most involved, as these were the songs that helped shape Seth’s hip hop career the most, Float Away having made it into the 2013 triple j Hottest 100, and so probably the most well-known to the audience.
Seth also played some new material that had the crowd chanting along rather unfamiliarly yet enjoyably surprised nonetheless. However, when Seth belted out tour single, Run, the audience chimed up again with the same passion as with the rest of the set.
Closing the night with an encore, it’s safe to say Seth Sentry once again blew Aussie fans away with his rhymes, Adelaide punters only hoping he’ll be back extremely soon.
