SatyriconSatyricon haven't been what you'd call an 'orthodox' black metal band since the late 1990s, but 2013's self-titled LP was an experimental step too far for most fans.
Don't fear though — Deep Calleth Upon Deep will have the masses returning to the fold. No this isn't Nemesis Divina Part 2, but it does combine the grandiose atmospherics of the band's early work with the massive riffage of Volcano and its ilk. Most of the eight tracks here clock in at over the five-minute mark and the duo have dialled back the hit and miss experimentation to deliver their most solid album since The Age Of Nero.
