When punk rock is polished, picked over and pristinely perfected to within an inch of its life, is it still punk rock?

When punk rock is polished, picked over and pristinely perfected to within an inch of its life, is it still punk rock? Things don't have to be cheap, fast and out of tune to have punk cred, but with Broke Till Midnight, Roll The Tanks prove that when you lose every single rough edge, you also lose every single spark of personality. The hooks are catchy enough; they also sound like they were written by computer. And cheesy handclaps on one song are bad enough, but cheesy handclaps on several? For shame, Roll The Tanks.
