Be warned - Rat Boy's debut is a 25-track juggernaut.
But as it's padded out with jarring, quirky audio bites it's still incredibly digestible. The Essex lad has whipped up some fervour for his first release with sold-out shows and big name kudos (Kendrick Lamar sampled him on DAMN.) so expectations are high. It doesn't disappoint; the lyricist's playful jaunts around bossa nova (the sunny Turn Round M8), fuzzy indie pop (Revolution, Sign On and Ill Be Waiting), and hip hop (Knock Knock Knock and Everyday), all while underscoring tales of suburban tedium and general bafflement for the world, make for a really satisfying listen.
