For a quarter of a century, Ultra Music Festival (UMF) in Miami has been an iconic mainstay on the EDM festival calendar, with over 150,000 people descending on a range of venues in the Florida coastal metropolis. That’s all well and good, but if you’re on the other side of the world and have neither the means nor time to attend, you were out of luck… that is until 2018 when the inaugural Road To Ultra Australia event was staged.
Since then, Ultra Australia has become its own beast, offering a slice of UMF downunder, and 2024 was no exception. Featuring some of the biggest names in EDM, spanning trance, tech house, dubstep and more, on April 13 the likes of Armin Van Buuren, Zedd, Steve Aoki, Darren Styles, Brennan Hart and living legend Carl Cox all showed what they’ve got across nine hours at Naarm’s Flemington Racecourse.
