Stranger To Stranger is a little bit of everything, melding his idiosyncratic style of writing with stripped back flamenco rhythms that call back to the Graceland sessions. It effortlessly combines elements of electronic music with African woodwind instruments, Peruvian drums, a gospel music quartet, horns and synthesisers that play off each other with an elastic ease. Simon bounces from one subject to the next, sounding as witty and erudite as ever. It's an ambitious and stunningly beautiful listen, proving that the 74-year-old is still crazy after all these years.
