Parquet Courts
New York-based Texans Parquet Courts follow up their excellent Light Up Gold debut with a not-dissimilar five-track EP of shambolic indie-punk-rock. Opener You've Got Me Wonderin' Now shuffles alongside a prominent toy flute, Descend (The Way) is fractured and urgent, the repetitive The More It Works bashes and bustles along, while Fall On Yr Face rides a vaguely bluesy swagger. Rambling closer He's Seeing Paths brings some levity with homemade percussion and an off-kilter beat à la Beck or Beastie Boys, rounding off another strong release.
