Panda Bear’s 2012 record, Tomboy, was languid and dense, with icy synth and vocals rolling out like fog over every song, his voice often piercingly beautiful.
This record is a lot sunnier, but with the same wonderful voice and pop smarts couched in squelchy electronics and light experimentalism. Though the album could benefit from some of Tomboy’s tightness, it’s doubtful many listeners will have a problem with the more psych-influenced grooves and manipulations. Mr Noah and Boys Latin, with their insistent scattered beats and rhythmic vocals, are ready-made dance party tracks.
