An inoffensive release, it’s not the strongest point of his career.
If you've heard one Newton Faulkner song, you've heard them all. The undeniably talented ginger's fourth album is pleasant enough and the faux introspective lyrics set over delicate guitar will surely be heard on some commercial TV promo soon, but it's neither new nor exciting. Unfortunately strong tracks like Losing Ground are muddled up with slower, underwhelming tracks bookending the album. Part of Faulkner's charm is his ability for catchy hooks (remember Dream Catch Me?), but he doesn't demonstrate that here. An inoffensive release, it's not the strongest point of his career.
