Album Review: Ne-Yo - Non-Fiction

ScHoolboy Q’s guttural line “Breathing chronic in my system” opens this album.

Ne-Yo and Q fight for control. Neither man wins. The listener loses. However – aside from execrable Pitbull feature Time Of Our Lives – things improve from there. A decade ago R&B had no room for nice guys; Ne-Yo was the last gentleman standing. Now he’s further from The Gentlemen’s Club and nearer to the gentlemen’s club. Adding this layer to his personality elevates him, adds intrigue. Closing with the crisp Ballerina, Ne-Yo proves he’s found new areas to explore.
