Which members in Little Red enjoyed making pop music?
For whatever reason, none of the band members since the band split have so far attempted to make a true pop record. Dominic Byrne’s New Gods project comes closest, but this scrappy garage album from Quang Dinh further emphasises the creative tensions that may have been present in the former group. Unfortunately, Piranha is only interesting when viewed through this speculative lens. Monkey Blues, Circus Song and Hollywood Boulevard chronicle Dinh’s dreams of the fame he barely tasted, but they’re the only songs coming from the heart.
