"Monks Of Mellonwah owe more than they probably would like to admit."
Monks Of Mellonwah owe more than they probably would like to admit. Chock-full of soaring falsetto harmonies, cranked, technical riffs and smooth production, all of the component parts work. But, as we know, that's only half of a great album. The lyrical content of the whole album falls flat, with repetition sometimes hinting at a lack of enthusiasm. The real highlights come in halfway through with orchestral arrangements building on some properly heavy rock, with tracks like Escaping Alcatraz and Sailing Stones throwing out a Cali-rock edge that does raise the album from mediocre.
