Minor Alps have delivered a solid record that belies the fact that it’s their first.

For an album with such a bleak album cover and a lyrical focus on longing and solitude, Minor Alps' debut record is pretty upbeat. Then again, that's probably what happens when you combine two revered pop musicians like Matthew Caws (of Nada Surf fame) and Juliana Hatfield (of Juliana Hatfield fame) and they put their heads together.
Sure, there are some quiet, reflective moments (like the final song Away Again), but with jangly, clean electric guitar and charming harmonies ever-present, Minor Alps have delivered a solid record that belies the fact that it's their first.
