Listening for the first time to the 13-minute opener, the sprawling They Dated Steadily, it's impossible to ignore the acid wash rock'n'roll heydays of the 1970s, the years Led Zeppelin were at their peak, Neil Young was in his prime and long-haired hippies were dropping like flies. It's a time Kevin Parker, as well as teammates from his other bands Nick Allbrook (Tame Impala, Pond) and Joe Ryan (Pond) and a couple other chaps reflect fondly upon through this seven-track album. Fuzzy riffs and driving snare drums abound, the results being mighty fine indeed.
