If anything, Pale Horses proves the Philadelphia five-piece have no plans to diverge from the sound that made them underground stars. The album is as deeply entrenched in the same spoken-word ennui and subtle, yet beautiful, orchestration as any of their other records, which can be good or bad depending on how you view it. They do angry well, though, and Pale Horses may be their most aggressive album yet.
