With 2012's Challenger, Memphis May Fire made an admirable attempt at finding their own footing in a genre that often sees little innovation. Unconditional picks up where they left off, cutting out the more haphazard aspects of its forerunner. Where the inclusion of electronic sounds in Challenger was quite jarring, the quality of the production is now far more refined, resulting in a sleeker, less off-putting overall sound. While we're still hearing a fairly atypical post-hardcore formula, Unconditional sees Memphis May Fire create something that stands out as opposed to blending in.
